about
There are two sides to every coin. Fool is about how our character struggles can also be our greatest assets. In this case it is love and connection with another that allows the defensiveness and protection of the fool archetype to shift to that of a fool for life.
lyrics
A heart of stone won’t feel light
The past will grow in weight
I see right through your fools gold
You ain’t no Hemmingway
You step to blame all sorbet for your shame
I know we’re all in pain
I just don’t buy all your archetypes lies
You fool
Won’t be a fool for nobody
But he’s a fool for you honey
Leave it to love to light the surprise
Compost the walls to spark the flame
You’re growing spells out from eggshells
A saving throw to own your pain
Now dosed in smiles while your dogs all run wild
I know we all can change
The counterplot skipping stones off the clock
Reclaim the fool
Won’t be a fool for nobody
But he’s a fool for you honey

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
An ambitious pop song cycle about human loneliness and fear, thick with harmonies and buoyed by tight musicianship. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 27, 2018
Moodymann creates innovative soul funky music with deep 70s inspiration. The vocals are simply outstanding. A step back in time, 50 years ago! Superb. jef37
